Anyone who knew or worked with Eva was fully aware that her greatest supporter was her loving husband, Jim. During the first 15 years of running the BRA, Eva worked deliberately for no money at all. For her, money was not her motivation for research, her curiosity and determination to revolutionize the beekeeping world overpowered anything money could offer. For her ambition, Eva's husband did not only support her mentally, but also financially, and he was more than happy to do it. Some may see Eva's free contributions to the field to be a roadblock for her achievements, but Eva's husband made sure Eva did not see it this way.
Eva was such an optimistic and brilliant human being that anyone with whom she would come in contact with became her full-fledged supporter. This was especially true of her loyal colleagues who were honored to be working next to such a force in apiculture. Eva Crane passed away on September 6, 2007 in Slough, United Kingdom, but her knowledge did not go with her. With the help of her former colleagues, published works, and completed research, information of bees and beekeeping will forever be expanding. |
